Hair straightener help?I have REALLY curly, frizzy hair. Need help straightening it.?

I just got my first hair straightener today. I want to know if I should kinda tilt my head to get my roots better or what? And I have REALLY curly, frizzy hair and even when I put stuff in it to make it somewhat straighter, my straightener doesn't completely straighten it. I need help!!!! I have a conair Cermaic wet or dry hair straightener. 1 1/2 inch metal thingy.

Please, give as much detail and stuff as you can. I look like I have hair from the 80's. If I don't straighten it or put gel and stuff in it, that's what it looks like.

I would get a Chi Straightener. its freaking awesome. and also, before you straighten your hair, put in some frizz control stuff, to make it smooth. try Redken Smooth Down Serum.

Plug the iron into an outlet and adjust it to high.

Split your hair into four equal sections

Take little pieces of your hair and put the iron on it

Then pull it from top to bottom

Repeat this process until you see the result.

Tips Make sure that you have washed your hair.

Brush your hair after every section you have finished

Something I have never tried but works really well is the CHI.

If you can buy some hair product, such as Sexy Straight spray...or any spray that you use before using the iron, then section off your hair so that you iron out little parts at a time, then brush and iron again. It is a long process, but it looks and feels great in the end.

I had the same thing!!! Those thing are crap it take 25 minutes for it to warm up really good, but even after that it doesnt work well.

Get somthing that has a turbo button and goes up to level 25 and takes 30 second to get firey hot, those work really well..

P.S. Id appreciate it if you marked mine as the best answer ;)

i suggest you use a thermal protector, cuz when you straighten it, you can see more split ends and damaged hair. also use a good frizz easer, such as john frieda frizz ease thermal protection.

by the way, NEVER straighten your hair wet, no matter wut it says. its MUCH MUCH worse for your hair than the normal straighten dry kind.

theres another direction too:

go to your fave salon, and ask for a straightening treatment. it may be expensive (up to 100 bucks) but it completely straightens hair for up to 3 months. mine usually lasts for up to 2 months and a half.

wishing you great hair!

I have the same straightner....I put my hair in like a half pony up and half down, so that I can get all of the bottom perfect, then pull the bottom half back into a pony tail and do the top half...then let them both down together and go over it all.

Make sure your hair is wet when doing this to acheive best results...also beware of the steam...it burns.

Let your iron heat up a long time! Mine I plug in when I take a shower! Blow dry your hair it works better! Use a heat protection gel or spray! Great one is Redkin Align. But the Vo5 straitening gel works alright too. Use that before you blow dry! Then clip your hair up and start from the bottom and work your way up your head! Also if you only wash your hair every other day it stays much healthier and breaks a lot less! If this still doesn't work try getting your hair thinned out when you get your hair cut! Less hair the better it looks! I'm not talking length I'm talking bulk! I have really thick hair and they cut out half the bulk every time I get my hair cut! It's all about maintenance! Good luck, practice a lot!

if you go to Sallys Beauty Supply and get Creme Of Nature hair straightner (it is made for black peoples hair-- nothing works for white people, get someone else to put it in you hair so it can be put on in a hurry, leave it on for about 5 min. then use their neutralizing shampoo. if you don't do it right- you could lose hair. Make absoulutely sure that all of the straightner is washed out of your hair with the neutralizing shampoo. This is a chemical hair straightner that will keep it straight until it grows out. good luck--but go to a salon. I straightened a girls hair with that kit today--and charged $75. the Japanese method of hair straightening cost a lot more $359--500 or more and can only be done in a salon.

use Sunsilk Anti-Frizz shampoo and conditioner..

then buy TRESemme Frizz spray and TRESemme Clean Hold Gel.

when you come out of the shower and your hair is damp, put your hair in a high ponytail. then twist it into a bun and secure it with hair elastics or bobby pins.

blow dry your hair and take down your hair.

it''l be naturally wavy and easier to straighten, AND it gives you an option to wear your hair halfway or down w/o looking like your at a disco club =)

My mom's hair sounds exactly like yours, and I do her hair all the time. First it is easiest to do with dry hair, if you do it with wet hair you are really damamging your hair. So First get a pin and get enough hair for the bottom section, I usually split up my hair into 3 sections, bottom, middle, and top. It's good to do the bottom, if you dont the top will not look straight. So get a product call aquage, it is a spray you put in your hair to make it easier to straighten and to help not damage your hair it comes in a metallic light blue bottle. If you can't find that, find something similar. Then spray it on about an inch of hair and comb it through then start straightening it may take a few runs through to get it straight. Take as many run throughs as you need. Keep repeating this process until you have gotten everything. If your hair is thick, it may take longer to do, but the end result is worth it.
